Storage rental terms
The terms for renting a storage locker from H&M Property Management at 34 Milton Poole Court, Pooles Corner, PEI. Renting a locker online means you agree to them.
Your locker
You rent one locker of the size you chose, in 4-week rental periods that renew until you end your rental. H&M will confirm your locker number and how to get in.
Use your locker only for storage, not as a living space or a workshop.
Rent
Rent is charged to your card on the day you rent, then every 4 weeks after that, at the price shown at checkout.
Rent is not refunded for part of a rental period.
If a payment is missed
If a payment does not go through, H&M will contact you. If rent is still unpaid 10 days after it was due, H&M may put its own lock on your locker until the balance is paid.
If rent stays unpaid, H&M has a lien on the contents of your locker under the Prince Edward Island Warehousemen’s Lien Act. This means H&M can sell the contents to cover what is owed, but only after giving you written notice and following the steps the Act sets out. Any money left after the amount owed and the costs of the sale goes to you.
Ending your rental
You can end your rental at any time. Let H&M know by phone or email at least 7 days before your next payment date, and the charges will stop.
Empty your locker, sweep it out and remove your lock by the end of the last rental period you paid for.
H&M can end a rental by giving you 30 days’ written notice.
Your lock and access
Use your own lock. Only you have the key.
H&M may open your locker in an emergency, to make repairs, if the law requires it, or when rent is unpaid as described above. Where possible, H&M will let you know first.
What you cannot store
No flammable or hazardous materials are allowed, such as fuel, propane, paint thinner or chemicals.
Also not allowed: firearms, ammunition or explosives; anything illegal; food or anything that can spoil; plants or animals; or anything that smells or attracts pests.
Insurance and damage
H&M does not insure what you store. Check whether your home or tenant insurance covers belongings in storage, or arrange your own coverage.
H&M is not responsible for loss of or damage to your belongings unless it was caused by H&M’s negligence. You are responsible for any damage you cause to the locker or the building.
Keep your details current
Let H&M know if your phone number, email or mailing address changes. Notices about your rental go to the latest details H&M has.
Changes to these terms
H&M may update these terms. If they change, H&M will email you at least 30 days before the change applies. These terms are governed by the laws of Prince Edward Island.
